This Sculpture is intended to generate dialogue and conversation around consent, safety and what we can do to create safe space for ourselves and each other, all the time.
Originally it had three sides (1-3)
1. # Me too;
this is a place to share “me too” moments or comments
2. Gratitude;
have you ever been in a sticky situation and someone helped you out?
This is the place to say thank you
3. Be a Safe Space Cowboy;
Are you willing to be the Creator and Keeper of Safe Space?
To Notice anomalies,
To step in to help someone
4. I’m sorry ;
This is the place to say "I'm sorry" for something you have done to another, that you regret.
The intent of this piece is to create an entry point, a beginning for dialogue.
For conversations that create the possibility of understanding each other in a meaningful and profound way. To allow us to share this facet of the human experience. Frequently these topics are so filled with shame, hurt and embarrassment, it seems easier, better if you will, to keep them our own personal secrets. A huge and painful load for a human to carry around.
This idea open source, available to anyone that would like to help create a new conversation around trust, consent, how we treat each other and how we can take care of each other.
The Safe Space Obelisk is available for Festivals and Gatherings.
The photographs of the words on this web page are from a gatherings of over the past couple of years
With gratitude and love,
